Theatre Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada will run A Christmas Carol from November 21 to December 24, 2008. I went to see their production a week ago, and seeing it ignited my Christmas spirit. I went with a friend whose family sees it together every year.
The Theatre Calgary production of A Christmas Carol is simply magical. The stage is transformed in full detail into the England of Dickens’s time. The costumes and props are a rich and lush visual treat, and the actors are endearing in their roles. Actor Stephen Hair plays Ebenezer Scrooge for the 15th straight year. He brings fullness and depth to the role of the cranky old miser, and his transformation near the end of the play will tug at your heart. You will be smiling from ear to ear.
Last thoughts: A Christmas Carol is a must-see this holiday season. Tickets can be bought for as little as $15 at Safeway. Take your friends and family, and it will be time joyfully spent.
